11/22/07: Footlocker Analysis of New Yorkers (after Footlocker Memories)

11/22/07: Footlocker Memories

11/15: Post States/CHSAA and Pre-Federation assessments

11/9: Tom Elnick and Kellenberg are enjoying the school's best XC season ever, up to this point.  We did an interview with him as we head into the CHSAA Intersectionals.

10/29:  The Northport Girls are flying high after their huge upset of powerful Ward Melville at the Section XI Championships!  Read an interview with their coach, Eric Visconti.  See below.

10/22:  See Updates below!

10/15:  FINALLY, a day conducive to fast running!!!  Times at Manhattan College were incredible.  On the boys side, the top individuals continued their dominance.  Smithtown, SWR & Chaminade all had outstanding team races.  Down in Alabama, Kellenberg placed 3rd in the Nike Race of Champions with St. Anthony's placing 11th (8th in the merge against 90 teams) with a 1-5 spread of 9 seconds.
There were many fast individual performances on the girls side by the usual suspects but in the LI team competition Ward Melville has proven to be head and shoulders above the rest.  This past Wednesday, the Northport Girls had a dream dual meet against Bay Shore and defeated them for the first time ever (25-33).  This program on the rise is still very young so look for them to continue their improvement the rest of the way.
One more weekend and then it's post season time!  Good Luck

Coach Dearie

10/8:  Last week, I know I said that things will start to heat up as we get into October but Saturday was ridiculous!!!  But seriously folks, we could use a shot of some cool, dry air to show us where we're truly at time-wise.  Locally, there were some exciting races over the weekend at the St. Anthony's Invitational and the PAL Meet, while others traveled to the Grout Meet and the Brewster Bear Invitational to show their wares.
Next weekend is important for the high school XC community, as most teams from the area will travel to the venerable Van Cortlandt Park for the Manhattan College Invitational and Kellenberg (#2 LI) and St. Anthony's (#5 LI) will be off to Alabamy to see how they stack up against top teams from the Southeast, Southwest, and California.  By this time next week, the Summitrunning rankings will most likely be very different as the contenders start to separate from the pretenders.  Best of luck and keep checking back with us as we are in the process of doing a couple of feature stories as well as the weekly interview.
